The owner, Mallory Whitefield, has one goal: to be a conscious consumer. When she buys something she wants to know where it came from, who made it, how it was made, and what it is made from. In her shop she shares this information with you, so that you can make informed shopping decisions.

Mallory Whitfield is a proud resident of New Orleans, Louisiana. She grew up in nearby Gulfport, Mississippi and witnessed the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina and the levee failures there and in New Orleans firsthand. Mallory is dedicated to helping New Orleans and the Gulf Coast rebuild and become better than ever. Currently, a portion of her sales will be donated to non-profit organizations to help in the Gulf Clean Up.

Mallory designs recycled clothing and accessories. She has created everything from reconstructed denim skirts and cozy neckwarmers to outfits made from recycled FEMA blue tarp. One of her blue tarp creations won 3rd place in Etsy’s Upcycling Contest in 2007 and was featured on Boing Boing. She is a proud founding member of the New Orleans Craft Mafia, and she writes a monthly column on local artists & designers for Antigravity Magazine.

My favorites are the Happy Vegetable Reusable Veggie Bags. This set of four reusable vegetable bags by Wonder Thunder will keep your veggies feeling happy and help you skip the plastic bags at the farmer’s market or grocery store! Screen-printed by hand with green, red or blue water-based ink on preshrunk and recycled cotton muslin. 

These bags are perfect for loading up your fruits and vegetables, as well as bulk cereal, rice, pasta or flour. The smallest bag is great for herbs or loose teas. These bags are also great for packing snacks for the kids. Bags can also be used to store vegetables in the fridge once you get home.

All sizes include a drawstring except for the herb bag. These bags fold up nicely into the next smallest bag for easy portable storage.

These veggie bags won’t affect the scale at the grocery store either! The large bag weighs .75 oz, the medium .45 oz, and the small .25 oz. The largest bag will add .001 lb. Set of four reusable bags includes: Large 10” x 12”, Medium 6” x 10”, Small 6” x 5.5” and Herb 3.5” x 5”.
